In a new initiative, the National Testing Agency is going to conduct the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central / State University / Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Government Colleges. And it has started accepting online applications for 2023 admissions.

Course(s) offered: BA-BEd, BSc-BEd, BCom-BEd (4 Year Integrated programmes)

About the 4 Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme: The ITEP is a Dual Major Programme:

- first major is in Education with School Specific Stage specialization and

- second major is in an opted discipline.

Beyond the teaching of cutting-edge pedagogy, the teacher education will include a grounding in sociology, history, science, psychology, early childhood care, and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, knowledge of India and its values / ethos / art / traditions, and more. [NEP 2020: 15.5]

List of Universities/Institutions: There are 42 participating universities/institutes.

- BA-BEd is offered n 35 Universities / Institutes

- BCom-BEd is offered in 10 Universities / Institutes

- BSc-BEd is offered n 29 Universities / Institutes

Please note that not all courses are offered at every institute. Institute wise list of offering is provided in Annexure II of NTA brochure.

Dates for entrance test and subsequent activities are not yet announced.

Counseling: Candidates who will be appearing in NCET will participate in the Counselling / admission process of any Central / State University / Institution (IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Govt. Colleges) which have been granted recognition by NCTE for ITEP for the academic session 2023-24. University/ Institution / Govt. College may fill up the vacant seats thereafter from the pool of NCET-qualified candidates.
